Music videos are actually a combination of music tracks being fitted with visual material for marketing or promotional purposes. The myth is that the very first music video was Bohemian Rhapsody from the Queen which was released in 1975. It is a fact that the video for the track made a huge difference in making it one of the biggest selling singles in the UK charts with 2.1 million copies being sold. However, it is arguable to say that it is the very first music promotion or that it provided the way for the birth of MTV.
The very first known combination of music tracks and visual material was done by Oscar Fishinger in Germany during the 1920s and continued in the United Stated in the 1930s after fleeing from Nazi rule. He also worked on the 1939 Disney film Fantasia.
