Music Perception

4.JPGThe accurate appreciation and perception of music is a valuable skill. The reason is that our perception of music is no longer based on the real worth of the music but rather on the heavy commercial marketing manipulation and oftentimes misleading critical evaluation of the music done in print, television, radio and other media sources.

The repetitive exposure to mass marketing and production produces a false notion that a certain particular group is good enough to deserve our undivided attention. There is a false perception that if a group or performer is on the cover of a top magazine then he must be really good to deserve that spot. All of these influences tend to cloud our judgment on what is truly good music and good performance.
